Hey everybody back home at Cornerstone Chapel. Pastor Gary here and Terry, my wife, and we're excited to be in Israel.

We're broadcasting back home so that you can participate in today's Bible study for Sunday Church.

But we're just excited to come to you by way of video.

All right. We're going to have our Bible study this morning from Acts chapter 24. So if you all will turn in your Bibles to Acts 24, it's kind of a

timely thing that we are in the book of Acts on Sunday mornings as is. And here we are in Cessaria, in Israel,

and we're going to be looking into Acts chapter 24.

And while you're turning in your Bibles at home and here,

I want to give you a little bit of background first,

especially for you note-takers, where we are

and why this particular town is significant in biblical

history. So Cessaria was annexed into the Roman Empire in 63 BC. There was extensive development done

here at this particular town under Herod the Great. Now you're going to hear a lot about the

different Herods. Herod the Great was the first of the Herod dynasty. He was the one who gave

the order for all the baby boys to be killed in Bethlehem during the time when Christ was born.

It's that Herod. Herod the Great did some extensive development here of

this town of Cessaria. One of the main things that Herod did was to build a harbor, which is

behind us here, behind me. This is the Mediterranean, is the backdrop behind me. And Herod had this

massive building project to build

this beautiful harbor around 20 BC here at Cessaria. Plus, in addition, Herod built storerooms

and markets and wide roads and baths and temples to Rome and Augustus because he was obviously he was not a follower of God, he was a pagan guy, he was an idumean.
