Let me tell people who I am and what we're doing.

I'm Robert Wright.

We are collaborators on the non-zero newsletter, most recently on the weekend edition

of one on Twitter, known as the Earthling.

And this is an edition of Earthling Unplugged, which is also like the newsletter, part of the non-zero media empire.

And what we normally do on this is talk about things they're in.

The Earthling, which is usually a diverse array of subjects.

Sometimes there's a particularly big intersection between what's in the earthling, what's going on in the world.

That is the case today.

We're going to spend a lot of time talking about the Middle East, the expanding war there.

Let me just say at the outset, this is Friday afternoon east goes time.

The expectation is that Israel will within days of not hours retaliate for the Iranian missile attack of a couple of days ago and a lot of other stuff is going on.

Now, both of you have been on the podcast. The plan was for us to all be on last week.

But Andrew, failed to cope adequately with a hurricane or something.

You were busy being chased out of Asheville, North Carolina, in search of drinkable water, right?

And to make matters even more dramatic, you had a newborn.
