Israelis are holding a day of nationwide protests today, burning tires and blocking highways

as they call for a ceasefire deal to return the hostages in Gaza.

The so-called day of struggle is happening as Israel's security cabinet is set to meet later,

according to a source familiar with the matter. Here's CNN's Paula Hancock's on the meeting today.

It appears at this point that we'll be talking about the military operations in Gaza City,

Israel expanding its military operations intending to take over that city.

It is not clear whether or not they will be discussing the proposal that the US has on the table

at this point to have a ceasefire and hostages release.

This was accepted by Hamas a week ago.

We have not heard up until this point a definitive

response from Israel, from the Israeli Prime Minister.

The protests come as Israel faces growing condemnation over the strikes at a hospital in southern

Gaza yesterday, killing at least 20 people, including five journalists.
