Alex, I begin with the announcement by the Trump White House that the first foreign leader to

visit the United States will be in Beavnanyahu. What is the significance of that,

Alex? Good evening to you. Good evening, John. Good evening, Malcolm. I think it's a very important

invitation. It dictates very clearly, unlike the Biden administration who waited a long time to

bring Netanyahu to the White House that Netanyahu and Israel are the United

States' closest ally. One of the closest allies in the world is certainly the closest

ally in the region. It's also extraordinarily important for Netanyahu right now, as Israel is

in this in-between state in this war in which you have a very tenuous ceasefire in southern Lebanon,

which may break down at any moment.

You have a phase one temporary ceasefire as we are seeing the release of hostages from the Gaza Strip.

And Netanyahu is a lot of challenges with his own coalition regarding

whether or not the fighting in Gaza is going to break down. Certainly the issue of Iran hangs heavy

over all of this. And Netanyahu wants to make certain that he is on the same page with

incoming new President Donald Trump about what permissions Israel may have to continue to

conduct this war and what cooperation it may get from the United States.
