And we're very pleased to welcome Malcolm Holign, conference

of President's major American Jewish organizations,

who's here to help us understand the vast

reporting that's going on in and around the Gaza, the Lebanon, and the threat to

the people of Israel.

But importantly, this is a moment to celebrate Memorial Day

and Independence Day in Israel.

One year, I can't recall which, I was present for this ceremony in the evening young people coming out of high school in uniform at the wall

I remember torch lights, lots of singing, there was music, what did I see?

Good evening to both of you and it's good to be with you. This is a sad day in Israel.

It's Israel Memorial Day and this year in particular it has been especially meaningful and sober because of the 1,590 people, soldiers and civilians

who were killed as a result of the conflict, many on October 7th and several

hundred soldiers in the conflict in the Gaza that ensued after the vicious attack on October 7th and 61 veterans who died from

wounds and injuries from previous times.
