Thank you for having me. The book, Israel and Civilization, is part history, part present, part

future, but the beginning walks through some history of

Israel and the Jewish people. You say at one point that the Jewish people have a strong emphasis

on communal responsibility and contrast that with some of the individualism of current culture.

What is the Jewish people, what can they teach us about this communal responsibility?

Well, this is a huge theme that recurses throughout the Hebrew Bible,

is this emphasis here on communal responsibility,

on the notion of collective holiness, actually, as a separate

recent book from Dr. Ronan Chival in his really political philosophers. He put in a separate book

last year. And this is a recurring theme all throughout the Hebrew scriptures. So, I mean, just to

give one example, there are too many examples to possibly cite there, but there is the famous line in the book of Exodus in chapter 19, verse 6, where God says to
