Department Chair John Turner examines the history of Islam and Judaism in America. Professor Turner

came to George Mason after earning a Ph.D. in American history from the University of Notre Dame

and a Masters of Divinity from Louisville

Presbyterian Theological Seminary. His teachings and scholarship center on the history of religion

in the United States, especially Mormonism, evangelicalism, and 17th century Puritanism.
