Daniel took a look at some of the new generic top-level domains that ICANN has been releasing

over the last a few years.

I think there are over a thousand of them by now.

Now, it turns out that really those generic top level domains haven't really been a big seller for the most part.

However, they are used, in particular the ones that are available at a heavy discount like dot top and dot xyc they are used a lot

for malicious sides for spam so one thing that daniel suggests since there's very little

oversight from i can over malicious use of domains within these generic top level domains to

essentially just blacklist them.

Given that there is very little useful content within these generic top level domains,

a filter like this shouldn't really impact your users too much, but then again, with all of the spam,

all the malicious sites within those domains, you may actually prevent

a couple of compromises.

And today will also be a big day for Windows users.

Microsoft is scheduled to release the Windows 10 anniversary update sometime later today.

It will be pushed to users over the next few weeks,

so it should be an automatic update for Windows. It is somewhat comparable to what used to be

a service pack. Now, the free update from Windows 7 and 8 to Windows 10 has expired, so you

will only get this Windows 10 anniversary update for

free if you already have Windows 10 installed.

From a security point of view, there are a couple new features here.
