A little bit different topic than normal for our diary today. The issue here is scam calls that are specifically targeting Chinese living in the US.

Not only are these calls usually done using Mandarin as a language,

but they also are addressing topics that immigrants are probably more likely to respond to, like for example

having a parcel waiting for you at a post office and needing to pay some additional custom

fees.

And then one that's actually particularly tricky in that it claims to come from Wells Fargo.

And the recipient is asked to provide additional information in order to

not have their account closed. The second scam probably tries to leverage some recent news

articles that Wells Fargo did wrongfully close some accounts after it wasn't able to verify

some customer details.

These calls aren't new.

We have seen them sort of throughout the year,

but they seem to be somewhat increasing.
