How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord is late for your faith in his excellent word.

One of the highlights of every Christmas season is when God's people stand at the first notes of the familiar and fabulous strains of Handel's

Hallelujah chorus, the entire Messiah oratorio is remarkable with a masterful orchestra

and inspiring words.

And when I say inspiring, I really mean inspired.

Today on through the Bible, we're studying Isaiah 9,

where a great deal of the Hallelujah chorus lyrics are found.

You'll recognize verses like this, for unto us a child is born

unto us a son is given and his name shall be called wonderful

counselor the mighty God the everlasting father the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

As our teacher Dr. J. Vernon McGee says, we're really scaling the heights of scripture

in this journey through Isaiah.
