spotlighting the familiar verse in chapter 7 that says,

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign, behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son

and shall call his name Emmanuel.

We have a special introduction for this study, so here's Dr. McGee to set the stage.

The controversy is raging today about the person of Christ. The enemy is doing

everything he can to destroy the deity of Christ.

Somehow another dismiss it, to contradict it, to relegate the Lord Jesus not only to an ordinary man but they are trying to

relegate him to the basis of man. The question in was he God? It's quite interesting, one of the first

Harrises of the church was was he man. They questioned whether he was a man. You see they were too close to him

Miracles he performed to denies deity, but they did denies humanity

And so one of the early creeds of the church said he's very man, a very man, and he's very God, a very God.

But that didn't settle the question. It's been going on in every century. They just

cannot let Jesus alone, and currently the attack is made upon his person and of course all of that

rests on the virgin birth and we shall deal with that and then we're going to let Paul have the final word in the message today.
