0:35.7	common speaker John Burko had nailed his colours to the mast and joined the Labour Party,
0:41.1	having previously sat as a Conservative MP for 12 years.
0:44.6	Interviewed by the observer, he castigated his former party as reactionary, populist, nationalistic and sometimes even xenophobic.
0:52.6	This morning, he elaborated on his change of allegiance with
0:55.5	Trevor Phillips. As I said yesterday to an observer journalist, my values are left of centre.
1:04.0	I do not identify with the Conservative Party. And I think that in British politics,
1:10.1	most people still see it as principally a choice between the Conservative Party and the Labour Party.
1:16.6	And the Labour Party is the alternative government to the Conservative Party.
1:22.6	If you believe, as I do, that this government is bad news, unfit to government, and that the Prime Minister,
1:28.8	though a successful campaigner is a lousy governor, you have to ask yourself, do you want rid of it?
1:36.0	And if you want rid of it, you have then to pose to yourself the question and to answer it,
1:40.7	how is that to be achieved? And the reality of the matter is, in the United Kingdom,
1:45.9	the only credible vehicle for the removal of this government is the election of a Labour government,
1:54.2	committed to equality, social justice, internationalism, and a fairer and more inclusive society.
1:59.8	That's the Labour brand.
