When I interviewed Sarah Blakely for Marie Claire magazine, she said to me, one of the things that I remember most from our interview is that she loves to drive to work where she lives in Atlanta,

drive to the Spanx offices. If you don't know Sarah Blakely, she's one of the first female

1:28.7

the answer is so simple. It's like, I don't even need to answer why. It just makes so much sense.

I think that when we ask why, our ego can be revealed. And this is actually very helpful,

1:42.6

because if we look at the ego is essentially anything that sees us as separate, separate from other people, separate from our creator, all about us, right?

1:52.1

Our ego is about us, how we self-identify our image.

And if we look beyond the ego, right, our permanent presence, our spirit, our soul, our consciousness,

2:04.4

the thing that never dies, I find that when I ask why I'm doing something, I'm feeding one or the

other. I'm feeding the love and creativity I have in my body, in my soul, just like everybody else,

2:19.1

just like everybody else does, or I'm feeding my ego.

2:24.2

And there is a distinct, powerful difference in feeling as we pursue these.
