Among the people, released from prison under the only bill ever signed into law by President Donald Trump with the support of both political parties.

It was a uniquely bipartisan moment. The law is called the First Step Act, designed to

liberate federal prisoners serving sentences that both Republicans and Democrats agree

are too harsh to fit their crimes. Those long terms are the legacy of another bipartisan

effort, the war on drugs. It's filled American prisons. Since Trump signed the First Step

Act about a year ago, federal judges have released some 4,700 such prisoners. During a White

House celebration in April, the president called released

inmate Gregory Allen to come forward. We're also proud to have with us on stage five more

Americans who have been released under the First Step Act and transformed their lives. And that
