I'm LRie Daniel

Favors, author, activist, attorney, and host of the LaRie Daniel Favors show on

0:26.4

Sirius XM's Urban View, Channel 126. So we're all clear that America's restarting the slave

0:32.5

trade, right? Like our, or maybe we're not all clear about that. So let's at least lay some

0:37.1

facts down so we

0:38.1

understand why I would make a statement like that and then we can explore what it looks like when

0:43.0

the same sorts of legal frameworks that were used to support slavery are also making a reappearance

0:49.5

in America 2025 version so basically we right now have a situation where the American government, led by

1:40.7

you as the victim in this case, are snatched up off the streets.

1:44.4

You are placed into some form of arrest, thrown into the back of some vehicle, and then sent away through a system known as the American immigration system.

1:53.0

And what we are seeing happening is that many people caught up in this system are then placed in private prisons, either private prisons here in these United

2:01.5

States or prisons that are in countries like El Salvador. Now, as we've talked about in previous

2:07.3

episodes, we often will see folks in the media using the wrong terminology to describe what's

2:12.8

happening. And those folks will say things like, well, such and such migrant was deported to El Salvador.

2:19.9

But let us be clear, deportation is what happens when you are sent back to the country from which you came.
