Yo, so this past week, I had my Q1 check-in at work.

And for context, I've been in this role for over five months.

It'll officially be six months in May.

So to me, this was the first

real check-in, given that I had a full quarter of work and things to do and projects and places

to be and all of that good stuff. And the conversation went well overall. It felt good getting

feedback that things were actually going better than I thought

they were given that my manager had asked me to grade myself and, you know, he told me that

I was a tough grader.

And I am.

That makes sense.

But beyond that, the thing that I really took away from it was on the constructive side.

And he didn't say that I was moving slowly or anything like that.

It was more something that I was observing about myself.

And the idea is that the quest to control perception, the creation of expectations that no one has articulated yet and trying to meet these artificial

expectations is slowing me down. Not in a way where it's causing projects to be blocked,

but just in terms of me being able to get through things quickly or in a way where it doesn't

end up me working on something. So let's take an email,

for example. Like there are certain emails to certain people or certain numbers of people where I may

sit there agonizing over this one paragraph email for like 30 minutes. And then something happens.

And then I get called into something else.

And then next thing you know, it's now the next day and I still haven't sent that email.
