Of course I follow an Instagram account called Scary Mommy on Instagram.

They actually are very funny and post pretty thoughtful articles.

And when I saw this headline, I had to click and it says social services contacted a TV broadcaster

after she let her 15 year old son travel around Europe with a 16 year old friend.

So it was just the 15 year old and the 16 year old

traveling for three weeks doing inter railing around Europe.

Okay?

So the whole tweet that got everything started, she posted on X.

And I think had she worded the sentence differently,

maybe there could have been a different outcome,

I don't know.

But verbatim, what she posted on X formerly known as

Twitter my little boy has returned from three weeks inter railing he'll be 16 on

Wednesday so he went with a mate who's already 16 due to hostile

travel restrictions, but they organized the whole thing. Paris, Brussels,

Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Merci, Toulouse, Barcelona, and Madrid.

For obvious reasons, budget reasons, inter-railing isn't in the cards for everyone, but in this increasingly risk-averse world it's vital

that we find any ways we can to give our children the confidence that only comes

from trusting this. Of course I miss spending the summer with our son but I'm so

proud of him and my loss is nothing compared to his gain

in the encyclopedic knowledge he now has of the differences between one McDonald's and another.
