I wonder if this is how Charles Dickens felt.

Hi, I'm Dave, welcome to walking as fitness, a daily podcast providing you with a little added motivation to get out and take the walk.

Today's 10-minute walk, which may or may not, remind you of Charles Dickens starts after this.

I woke up really early this morning, way earlier than I wanted to, could not fall back asleep.

And so now I'm doing kind of, sort of, what Charles Dickens used to do.

He went through a season in his life where he struggled with really bad insomnia.

And instead of just laying in bed, willing himself back to sleep, which didn't't work he would get up and start walking around

the streets of london in the middle of the night and so instead of trying to wheel myself back to

sleep after i realized this is not going to work i I got up, I'm not in London,

and I didn't just walk out the door.

I actually puttered around the house briefly,

quietly, didn't want to wake Eva.

Took a 10-minute walk on my treadmill in my home office,

enjoyed some coffee, and now I am out.

Well before sunrise.

In fact, even before the birds start waking up.

I've heard a couple birds, but it's not that bird chorus that happens.

Instead more of a bug chorus.

And as I look around, it's just me.

I wonder if Charles Dickens,

as he was walking through the streets of London

in the middle of the night,
