It is raining again this morning, unlike yesterday though, I do not have an umbrella. I actually checked the forecast and while we've had rain this morning, we're kind of in this chunk of several days with rain.

It looked like I was rain-free long enough to get out, record the podcast, take the walk, etc., etc., but not so much.

Gratefully, it's only raining casually.

Is that a term? Casual rain? It's wet. It's cold. Nothing casual about this. Light. That was the word I'm looking for.

The rain is light. Hey, I want to circle back to something I said yesterday. I started the podcast, the episode with the comment about I feel safer because it's raining.

Then I launched into the story of the coyotes that Dave and I heard the night before while we were out walking, looking at Christmas lights.

And it occurred to me once I was done recording back home

that I never explained why I felt safer.

I just kind of left that lingering, didn't close the loop.

For whatever reason, because of the coyotes that we heard the night before,

which were pretty close to our neighborhood and close to where I'm walking now.

But somehow walking in the morning while it was raining, felt safer,

as if all the coyotes were huddled under a tree, hoping not to get wet.

Logically, there's nothing about it that resonates,

but somehow I felt safer because it was raining as if I wouldn't

encounter a coyote.
