Is smoking a sin?

Now, I'm going to look at a few reasons why I believe that smoking is wrong and is a sin for a Christian. Now, I'm not trying to add a legalism into it because it's truly the Bible doesn't say clearly that smoking

is a sin. But the reasons I'm going to present that smoking gives us or smoking does to us

makes smoking a sin for a believer. Now, I'm going to say that makes smoking a sin for a believer. Now, I myself was

introduced to smoking and I smoked for about one week out of peer pressure when I was a teenager.

It was actually that year that my family was moving to the United States and the fear of, you know, we had

to go through health examination before we would come to the United States as refugees.

And so I had this such a big fear that my parents will find out after seeing the health

reports that I had something in my lungs through smoking, that actually my habit of smoking

did not last more than like few weeks.

And I'm so grateful that I quit that, even though my motivation for quitting that might not have

been to honor God, but nevertheless, I quit that.

And so for those of you who are addicted today, I believe that God wants to set you free,

and God wants to change also your thinking to bring freedom and deliverance into your life.

The first reason why I believe smoking is a sin for a Christian is because smoking has pagan roots.

Now, it's interesting to know that the origin of smoking tobacco comes from indigenous, hidden religions.

Now the Bible tells us that if the root is holy, so are the branches in Romans chapter 11, verse 16. For if the fruits is holy, the lump is also holy. And if the root is holy, so are the branches.

So actually the Bible tells us that if the origin of things is ungodly,

the results can be ungodly as well.
