My husband's family is from Honduras and immigrated here when my husband was in his early teens.

There were a variety of reasons that are too long to get into.

My mother-in-law moved in with us about a year ago.

It's been a blessing in so many ways and very difficult in others, but it was necessary

for financial reasons.

Here's the problem.

My mother-in-law has no concept of food safety.

She often leaves perishable groceries out on the counter for hours before she'll put

them away and usually cooks things in the morning that she won't eat until dinner and

just leaves them out on the stove in the meantime.

For these reasons, I have just tried to keep our things separate and not eat her food

unless I have just seen her cook it.

This was already making me a borderline A-hole in her mind because as Romeo knows, you

do not turn down a Latina mama's food.

Is that right Romeo?

This was okay until this past week.
