Hello and welcome to the weekend edition of Not Another One. Thank you very much all of those who stuck with us, the slightly grueling topics that the news presented us with earlier in the

week. But for the weekend, we are going to turn our eyes both north and west to discuss the

very exciting contests that are coming up next year in Scotland and Wales, and which are actually

going to be fascinating

in various ways. Ian is joining us down the line from Bonnie Scotland. Am I right? I am. I'm in Royal

Deside which is so I'm in Braymar and Balleter and that part of the world.

And I have to say by pure coincidence, the last time I was here was the weekend before the 2014 Scottish Independence referendum, which of course the Union won.

Well, a tense weekend, though.

It was. It was a really interesting weekend where I think it was the weekend of the Braymar Highland Games, which I'm not in the habit of going to.

But a friend who was running a conference wanted me to speak about variety of things.

And principally, I think it was about the Royal Bank of Scotland and a book I wrote and all that sort of stuff.

And it just happened to be that weekend.

And we ended up going to a big party as well.

The poll dropped from the Sunday Times, the infamous poll, which showed that the yes side, those trying to break up the union and Alex Salmond were, were on the verge of

victory, which turned out to be incorrect, but completely freaked out pretty much every unionist

that weekend. So yeah, so it's nice to be back. And Tim, have you been doing the kind of SW1

equivalent of the Braymar Games, which is basically a lot of elbow lifting at this time of year, isn't it?

Because we should tell listeners, those who aren't in on the act, that at this time of year, all of the political organizations, the think tanks and the pressure groups and the charities and the lobbyists, they all have a little

summer drinks party.

And these can be very hot nights and the MPs are rushing to and from votes and all of the hangers

on and journalists are taking advantage of the free beer and the free wine and the free bubbly in some cases.

And it can all get a bit effervescent, can it not?
