Hi everybody this is Scott Sad about to do a live stream in a few minutes but I thought

that I would weigh in the latest controversy surrounding something that my good friend Jordan Peterson said.

Let me introduce some nuance and some measured rational discourse into the conversation.

So he put out a tweet.

This is, let me just, he put out a tweet.

So there was a Yumi or Yuni, I can't read it,

Yuni new in a Sports Illustrated swimsuit.

She's a you know beautiful woman who might be a bit

rotund and so he wrote sorry not beautiful and no amount of authoritarian

tolerance is going to change that. Now I haven't spoken to him about

his tweet but I wanted to surmise what I think he might have meant by that. Look, as I've

explained on countless occasions in several of my books and in you know in

papers and you know media appearances social constructivism is an idea pathogen. This is covered in the parasitic mind.

Social constructivism basically argues that everything is socially constructed, right?

I mean, even now our sex is socially constructed, never mind our gender.

And so social constructivism starts with the idea that we are born Tabula Raza, empty slates,

and then it is the nefarious forces of all sorts of socialization forces that cause us to prefer this or that,

you know, this food and this type of woman's body and this type of man's body and so on and so forth. It's very much the scientific world that I've

navigated in for nearly three decades. So I think what Jordan is saying here

I think of course he he packaged it in a way that drew the ire of people and I understand you know why that was

but what he's basically saying is that, you know, beauty is not socially constructed.
