I am struggling with a pretty big decision in my life right now. I'm debating on whether to close a third generation business that I've been in. I've been in it for 30 years now and 56 years old.

I just am really, really struggling with, you know, do I get out of the business now or do I continue to continue to work and I.

There's moments of joy in the business, but then there's also times when it's like I just, I think I'm ready and I'm really struggling with it.

Okay, for how long have you been struggling? Probably a couple years now.

Well, then it seems like most of you wants to stay in it.

How old are you? 56.

So if you gave up the business shuttered or sold it. What do you have on your plate to do with your time?

I mean, I, you know, I'm out in bike ski. I run. I, you know, I have those sorts of things. I do, you know, a fair amount of volunteer service. I'm in a local rotary club and I give my time at the local juvenile detention.

So I do, you know, come volunteer work. I'm active and alcoholics anonymous. So I try to give back that way also.

I'm not sure if boredom would be an issue.

I think at times it could be.

But, yeah, I think I could stay busy generally speaking.

And you say third generation business. Do you have some sense of obligation that must continue for all eternity?

Yeah, I hear my grandpa and my dad in the back of my head saying, you know, what do you, what are you thinking? Yeah, that's, there's no question about that.

Well, they were at a different time in history too. Mm-hmm. May I ask what kind of business it is?

We're in that jewelry business.

Okay.

How much of it is the guilt of your sense of obligation to the family?

30%.

And what's the rest of it?
