And today we are also joined by Courtney Rysick.

Courtney is a speaker and the author of a number of books, including The Accidental Feminist, Glory in the Ordinary, and the recently released someone to believe in. Courtney, thanks for jumping on the show with us. Thanks for having me. Oh, we're glad to have you here. Now, you and Jen, are partners in crime more broadly. But this is, I think, the first time that you've ever been here on the show. And we're to have you on thank i'm excited to be here i'm

an avid listener so i'm very honored to be here i couldn't believe it was the first time i was

convinced we had had you on before but i don't think i've been on before no no no kyle said no

and he would know he would know but no we just talked a lot so it feels yeah yeah no No, we were just waiting for the right time, Courtney, you know?

Just the right, just the absolute right moment.

And this season felt like a good one, especially with your recently released book,

someone to believe in.

This last season, this season, we are looking at tricky questions, thorny topics.

And this is one that a lot of people feel really personally,

and it makes a ton of sense as to why. And your book certainly is more broad than the topic,

but it covers some of this. And I thought it'd be great to have you on. Today, we're asking the

question, is it possible to trust the church again after church hurt? Now, Courtney, you wrote this book someone to believe in and before

anytime we have an author on and we're talking about something that's broadly connected with their

book we always want to ask like why did you write this book and what was your hope or goal for

this book specifically and then I want to start to kind of maybe focus on focus in a little bit

on addressing people who feel like they may have

a hard time trusting the church or spiritual leadership again.

Yeah, so I didn't set out to write the book related to church hurt or disappointment.

I really had been interested in the Gospel of John for a number of years.
