0:00.0 | Hey, everybody, welcome to Ask Me Anything. |
0:20.2 | I am Matt Love. I am here with Pastor J.D. Greer, and we have a |
0:25.3 | listener question today. And J.D., you know, this whole podcast is about answering really |
0:31.0 | tough questions that people are asking and Christians are asking. I think this is a really good one. |
0:37.2 | We've received this question a few times, most recently by one of our listeners named James. |
0:43.0 | And, J.D., the question is, is it okay for Christians to use IVF? |
0:48.7 | James, that's a great question. |
0:50.2 | I think a very, a very relevant question that a lot of people have. |
0:54.0 | And I do want to be sensitive here because I know that there are probably people listening right now. |

1:36.7 | address that here later on as well. So I'll just start here. I see a potential problem that IVF can |
1:42.6 | bring about that runs contrary to a biblical perspective on life, namely that life begins a conception and that all human life at whatever stage is sacred. |
1:53.1 | If you're not familiar with the processes of IVF, IVF basically takes, uses this process where a female egg is fertilized with the male counterpart, shall we say, |
2:03.6 | and the fertilization, or we would say conception, that happens outside of the womb and then the |
2:09.9 | successfully conceived embryo, which is now a human being, is placed back into the womb. |
2:15.8 | Many times the procedure is carried out in a way where they take |
2:19.1 | multiple eggs because they're trying to, you know, make the process as efficient as possible. And so |
2:25.4 | because sometimes an implanted embryo won't actually develop into a child or they'll be a miscarriage, |
