Welcome to our daily rosary meditation. Let's begin in the name of the Father and the

son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let's call to mind all those we promised to pray for.

Last night a young man shared with me that he struggles to use his free time well,

but he spends a lot of time scrolling through YouTube and Tik-Toc

and he feels really empty afterwards. I suggested that he reads something good instead and he immediately

responded that he had such and such a book that he was going to try. Well I know the book and it's horrible.

But he has no way of knowing what is good for his soul and what's killing it. This is precisely why we're doing this

series of meditations on how to use our free time or leisure well. Because this young man is not alone. We are inundated

with options for news, sports, entertainment, social media, movies, podcasts, on and on.

But are these really feeding our soul?

Or are they killing our soul? Or are they killing our soul? The soul, meaning the mind and emotions, needs to be

fed by truth, beauty and goodness. Beauty is comprised of order and surprise.

Beauty is where we allow ourselves to be surprised by things that are true and good

and right, things being according to the order of how God created the world.

But too often we're feeding our souls with a lot of junk,

and in many cases we're ingesting poison.

So the first question must be, is what I'm watching, listening to, or reading, beautiful?

Or am I delighting in disorder and perversion?

Our Father who arts in heaven, hollow would be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us to our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us

and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, Amen.
