Summary
On a recent Holy Post episode, Ryan Burge claimed the data shows that Gen Z is not experiencing a revival, but Carey Nieuwhof says otherwise. Esau and Sharon Hodde Miller compare the competing narratives and reflects on what true revival looks like and why we care so much whether a revival is happening. Then, a recent New York Times piece questions the so-called "boy crisis," Are boys really falling behind or have girls just always done better in school? Plus: what food or coffee shop would make you change your last name? Why Uber's new feature for women riders is long overdue. And Esau's final question: is being mad about Halloween in July grumpy or principled?

| 1:14.5 | I'm so glad to be back with you guys. I had so much fun last time. Oh, thank you. Sharon actually asked us, like, what did we do on this podcast? She's like, what's the point of all this? I said, you know, we need a tagline. Like, you know, what we try to do on the East Summer Colley podcast, we try to take culture seriously as a way of revealing what God is up to in the world. We think the brokenness of culture or even the glory of culture is revealing something about human longing. We think about exploring culture, we find that way to God. That's our new tagline. Exploring culture to find that way to God. Should I workshop this now? We should I plan that before we start the podcast? Let's say people in the comments, put your own tagline for the podcast in the comments. And let's see if someone, that's pretty good. Let's see if someone can come up with something better. I just want people to know that the name Mike can't be in the tag. It needs to be like, you know. But maybe. Maybe it's what the people want You saw? Yeah, I want it to also, because people sometimes do think that they say that I'm treating you poorly, but I want to give you a gift. For those of you who can't, who aren't listening, who aren't watching on YouTube, I wrote a book called God's Colorful Kingdom, a storybook Bible. And I was signing copies of this today to, |

| 2:18.4 | I was telling you, I'm actually teaching vacation Bible school at my church this week. Tonight is all about the death and resurrection of Jesus. I'm going to crack this open. | 2:35.6 | So for our first topic today, I don't know, this, maybe we'll call this segment the sign of the apocalypse, so maybe we should enjoy ourselves a little bit more, and I take things too seriously. There is a city or a town, I guess, in Massachusetts that was one of the few towns in Massachusetts |
| 2:51.4 | that didn't have a Dunkin' Donuts. |
| 2:53.3 | And they were so excited. Have you never been in New England? To be a city in New England without a Dunkin' Donuts, it's just like, it's like a tragedy. So they finally got a Dunkin' Donuts. And to celebrate, they changed their name to Duncan for the day. |
