Summary

Jordana asks Dr. Naomi about the usefulness of therapy when things are going well in life, and Dr. Naomi shares some sage advice from a seasoned psychologist. A birthday betch is feeling salty after her bestie completely skips acknowledging her big day and wants to know: red flag or honest oversight? Flying solo on a group vacation is leaving a listener with a less than desirable sleep arrangement and she wonders if bailing for her own hotel room is acceptable. After a surprise pregnancy, a woman is spiraling through an endless loop of “what ifs” and looks to Jordana and Dr. Naomi for help getting out of her own head. A generous business owner offers her meal-prep services as a gift, only to be rewarded with unsolicited critiques. And an early riser is officially triggered by a local school’s 8:30 a.m. drum practice and the daily percussion parade terrorizing her mornings. Learn more about your ad choices. 0:39.2

I was thinking about this.

I usually go like every other week.

But I do have this feeling like sometimes where I'm like, I get anxious about the appointment

0:51.7

because I'm like, I don't really have anything this week.

0:55.2

And I have to like come up with an issue that I don't really even feel like is like an issue to like delve into.

1:02.6

And then I feel like maybe I'm wasting like time and money.

1:07.1

But then like sometimes you go to those and like you had an interesting conversation that comes out. And sometimes you go and you're like, I don't know, I feel like I, you know, I leave the, I mean, I know you've been to therapy too, but I leave the appointment being like, did I really even care that much about the thing that we just work through? Yeah. Do you have that a lot? Does anyone like tell you that? I feel like I would never say that to the therapist because it feels weird.

1:29.9

To say like that was kind of pointless, basically. I guess either that was kind of pointless or just like everything's fine.

1:37.1

Obviously like there's times like when I would pay like four times the amount for the therapy appointment when I'm like in a crisis situation and you want to talk through something or you're having a really bad week or something.

1:50.2

Therapy surge pricing?

1:52.1

I mean, maybe. Could it be based? Could it be need based? Right. Or yeah. I don't know if you felt

1:58.7

this way going into a session or if you have patients who have like said that to you or at you as a therapist have ever been like, you don't really need to be here today.

2:07.8

No, I've never said that.
