The answer is not to defund our police departments.

It's to fund our police and give them all the tools they need,

training, and foundation, and partners and protectors

in our communities need.

President Biden has been consistent about his support for police.

But for many activists, hearing him say,

fun to the police, it can feel like a bit of a betrayal.

That's because Biden gained momentum in his run for the presidency

as calls for police reform grew after the 2020 police killing of George Floyd.

Then candidate Biden knelt with demonstrators during protests

against police brutality across the US.

He met with families of victims and he promised change.

But since getting elected, the Biden administration has remained adamant

that defunding the police is not the answer.

In fact, more funding, proper training, and community policing

have been at the center of Biden's agenda on this.

Republicans, meanwhile, have insisted that Democrats are trying to destroy
