Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to the show. Now, the US, we've not talked about US politics

for quite a while. It remains the global Hegemon, so clearly what happens within the political

ecosystem of the United States is pretty important for the rest of the world. Now, back

in 2020, there's quite a broad political coalition, I would say, which was, I suppose

relieved that Donald Trump lost, whatever people thought about Joe Biden and his political

prospectus and the administration that he then formed. There was a general sense of thank

F. Donald Trump is no longer president of the United States. And I suppose what's interesting

is what has happened since because the Biden coalition, I suppose, or what propelled

him to power. It's quite a different context from, say, Barack Obama in 2008, not least

because you now have actually quite a big progressive movement in the United States,

which crystallized around Bernie Sanders insurgent campaigns back in 2016 and 2020. And that's

particularly appealing to younger Americans, millennials and zoomers, much the same political

phenomenon as here in Britain. And they have very radical, often political ambitions,

which obviously are, which arise from their own material conditions, the huge insecurity

which exists in a neo-liberal economic paradigm over the United States, as much as it is

the case here in Britain. So I suppose the question is now, because Biden, in fact, before

I bring in, we've got two brilliant guests to talk this through. If we look at his polling,

it's bad, in fact, very, very bad. The number of Americans disapproving of Biden has

surged, the number of Americans who approve of him has fallen, so approving of him has

fallen very dramatically. Now, there were midterm elections coming up. Now, given the knife

that exists in the Senate, which has left the administration at the mercy of particularly

two conservative Democrats, which has caused massive problems for their domestic agenda,
