Summary

The Ironman 70.3 World Championship was held in Port Elizabeth, South Africa on September 2nd, 2018.  That's where Triathlon Taren posted a personal best time of 4:35:59 -- exactly six minutes faster than his previous PB in the 70.3 at Coeur D'Alene, Idaho back in June 2018.

In this episode of the podcast, Taren dives into every nitty, gritty detail of the race.  How he felt on each leg of the race, what his race tactics were, how those tactics compared to his pre-race plan, and what motivated him when the going got tough plus so much more.

The first company that today's podcast is brought to you by is new wave swim boy, which is

great for new swimmers to feel more confident.

And I was skeptical about this because I was like, I'm a confident swimmer.

0:10.7

I don't need no new wave swim boy, but actually avoided a lot of boats coming really close

0:17.6

to me in the open swim that I did the other day.

0:20.1

The secondary perk to this is that your partner feels more confident with you in the open

0:38.1

you know, we really can't see you until we're like basically on top of you. So New Wave Swim Boy,

they sent out a couple of units. I tried them out just three days ago. And instantly, boats were a long

0:50.0

way away. And then I went up on shore and I asked somebody on shore that was watching if they could

0:54.1

see me. And they said that they could see me as far out as I went, which at one point was a full

0:59.1

kilometer. So that was kind of the clincher. I was like, all right, New Wave Swim Boy, let's do some

1:04.9

stuff. I like that you're safe and I also like that you have a place to store your keys and your

1:09.9

phone which are with you when you're in the water because you can actually place to store your keys and your phone, which are with you

1:11.4

when you're in the water because you can actually put them inside this buoy and they stay dry and

1:15.6

safe and travel along with you. So I could put your find my phone on your iPhone on and actually

1:20.7

track you to make sure you're still moving through the water. You're just that obsessed with me.

1:24.6

Well, I just don't want you to sink to the bottom. Well, stop. So we have set up a
