Hi, everybody and welcome back to another edition of Irish Illustrated ISO. I'm Tim Priester from Irish Illustrated.

And yesterday, Wednesday, we met for the first time Chris Ash, Nordames's new defensive coordinator replacing El Golden and J-Wan cider. That's the pronunciation.

I gave a pronunciation in today's Thursday

thoughts, just so people could remember that. But J-Wan Sider, the assistant head coach and

running backs coach who replaces DeLan McCullough in that capacity. And I have to say that,

and first of all, let me start with, I'm just going to start with Chris Ash and we'll talk about him a little bit.

I'm going to quote both of these guys because I think they did an excellent job.

And it was almost particularly with Chris Ash, like if Notre Dame were to sit down and script exactly how they wanted him to approach his first press conference.

This is exactly how I would have written it.

Now, I'm not saying Notre Dame did that, but I think that he said many of the things that Notre Dame fans would like to hear first and foremost as it relates to what he's going

to do with the defense, how he's going to run the defense.

And the first thing he said, and he was asked

about defensive approach. And the first thing he said was, if it's not broke, don't fix it. And I can't

imagine a better opening statement for Chris Ash, because when you're following El Golden,

the sensational job that he did in particular, his second and third years on the job,

that's exactly what you wanted to hear.

He even used the word enhance, which of course is a Marcus Freeman term.

And, you know, one of the changes, certainly there's going to be a terminology change in some of the things that he does.

But even that, there's a caveat to that. And I'll get to that in a little bit. But he said

some of the fundamentals may change. I know there's one of the talking points and it was brought up in

the press conference was about a rugby style of tackling. I will get into that here in a little bit as well. I think it's a rugby style of tackling.
