Today, we're sharing my conversation with esteemed college football writer and journalist Ivan Maisel,

who's covered the sport for more than four

decades. Over his illustrious career, he's worked for the Dallas Morning News, Newsday, Sports

Illustrated, ESPN, and others. He's also been recognized nine times for the best story by the

Football Writers Association of America and is a member of the FWAA Hall of Fame. Most recently, he's the

author of American Coach, the triumphant tragedy of Nordame legend Frank Leahy, which was released on

September 16th. The book explores the often-forgotten legacy of Leahy, who led the fighting

Irish to six undefeated seasons and four national championships and an 11-year span.

Still, he lacks the recognition of Nordame Championship winning coaches who came before and after him,

like Newt Rockney and Ereparsejan.

We spent a great deal of our time exploring Leahy's life and career.

We also delve into what it took to conduct research for the book, the access nerdaim provided,

and how the process has changed this perception of neurdame. Here's my interview with Ivan.
