We're joined by John Bryce of Football Scoop.

We are still waiting to hear on what is going to happen with Mike Mickens.

A lot of our subscribers are getting a little nervous because he hasn't been named

co-defensive coordinator yet, but I guess good news.

Yeah, definitely good news.

Texas has hired a person for his position, and that's good for Nourname.

J.B., are there some other suitors out there?

There probably are. There certainly have been. Mike Mickens was definitely deep into the mix at Georgia Tech

before they went with Blake Gideon, and that's what actually opened up the position at Texas.

Texas reached out to Mike Mickens and talked to him.

I think that they, based on the people I talked to, they really liked Mike. Mike is at a pretty

advanced salary here at Notre Dame and is in line for a raise and probably that promotion to

co-defensive coordinator. So Texas is hiring Mark Orphe from Rutgers.

If I'm not mistaken, I don't have Orphe's bio in front of me, but I think he's been in the SEC before

in a role at Ole Miss at some point in time, or certainly Lane Kiffin tried to hire Orfe at some point in

there. There's still a few random spots out there that Mike Mickens could be involved in.

Still some things shaking out. The Saints are still filling out their staff, which could

ultimately lead to some additional college opening. So they're getting closer and closer to

it being for sure that Mike Mickens is still on the
