This is Irish Illustrated Insider. It's Monday, August 16th. I'm Tim Prezer with Tim O'Malley and Pete Samson. We had an opportunity to see a full practice on Thursday of last week. We've had interviews with both coordinators, Brian Kelly, a bunch of players, a bunch of which have been named captains. That was kind of fun on Saturday talking to some of the new captains, especially.

Tim, you'll talk about Avery Davis.

But let's start with, we'll talk about those captains, but let's start with Jack Cohen being named the starting quarterback.

No surprise there.

I talked to Tommy Reese about Drew Pine and his reaction and, you know,

Reese said that he could relate.

That is,

Drew Pine could relate to what Tommy Reese himself went through as a quarterback.

But I don't think any of us are surprised at Jack Jones as the starting quarterback

for Florida State.

No, I mean,

I think it would have been a shock if it was anybody else.

And I mean, I think in some ways, Notre Dame managed the announcement the way that it did out of

respect for Drew Pine because you have to keep him engaged for some of the reasons that

that reset.

Because they don't, if it wasn't for Drew Pine, they wouldn't have a backup.

I think that they could put in the game and feel like the offense could function yet.

So, you know, Jack, there's a question about Jack Cohen later.

I mean, we've barely seen anything from him in camp.

So it's not like what we've seen would lead you to believe like, God, this guy is head and shoulders above Drew Pine,

but it's just a reminder that what we see is such a small sliver compared to everything else.

Our Jack Cohn practice was 30 minutes and we never saw him throw a ball.
