So Trev, let's dive into the top 10 of our post-spring top 25 rankings here at Irish Breakdown,

0:23.7

brought to you by our friends of Fandool.

0:26.1

And we're going to now do this one a little bit different.

0:28.6

We're going to actually go through each team and talk about that team and why what we like about them and why we have them here.

0:37.4

And then at the end of this segment, we're going to talk about who we believe are the true title contenders. So we'll kind of lump them all together. We won't necessarily tell you as we're doing the top 10 where that cutoff exists. We'll kind of tell you afterwards. And then if you want to get some mailback questions in that are related to our top 25, college football as a whole, asking about some of the teams in the top 25, making a comment about why you think a team should or shouldn't be in the top 25. Go ahead and throw that in there. And we'll get to that when we get to our mailbag, which will come at the end of today's show. But, Trev, we're going to kick things off here with the BYU Cougars, a team that

1:12.4

you and I both had as a top 10 team who benefited from Texas Tech dropping down a little bit.

1:17.1

They're now our number one team in the Big 12.

1:19.9

They are, man. And I love what BYU brings back. First and foremost, it's the guy steering the ship,

1:24.8

and it's Kalani Sataki, somebody who elected to forego the Penn State job and stay in Provo, which I think was a huge move for him. And I think it also might say something a little bit about Penn State, different conversation for a different day. But I mean, we're talking about a head coach. That's a little bit. Yeah, a little bit. Yeah, a little bit. You tried to go sign a bunch of Big 12 coaches and they all said, nah, we're good. We're going to stay in Arizona State and BYU. We're good. No thanks, Penn State. 100%. But, you know, we're talking about a head coach that's been 23 and 4 in his last two seasons. Played for the conference title and also shared a piece of the pie along with

2:01.8

Notre Dame of teams believing that they should have made the college football playoffs last year.

2:05.4

So then you go and dive into what this team did over the spring.

2:08.3

And I believed at the time before when we did our way too early rankings that they were one of

2:12.8

the most experienced returning rosters in the Big 12.

2:15.0

And I think some of that started to come to fruition over the course of the spring.

2:19.2

They kept their portal losses to a minimum. You had a year two quarterback. I've read a lot of good things about Bear Bachmeier.

2:25.2

Not that he's on the verge of becoming a Heisman contender, but he's taking the necessary strides that he needs to as a passer, despite losing Parker Livingston.

2:32.9

Some of that is because of some of their portal acquisitions.

2:35.3

Other that is other reasons is because of younger players stepping up.

2:39.3

Walker Lyons is becoming a go-to target forum at tight end.

2:42.7

A little bit biased there because you guys know how much I like tight ends.

2:45.5

But with a quarterback like Bear Bachmeier and his skill set,

2:48.5

I could see that relationship being somewhat of what
