One wonders how fragile people's memories are.

One wonders how shallow people's memories are.

In our own country of America, we have been to war in the Middle East in the last 20 years, three times.

Your Muslims, the famous scholar Al-Hafid bin Hajar, he remarked,

Man tachalam,

for his own fenni,

whoever speaks in an area that is not his speciality

will say some bizarre and strange things.

I am a firm advocate of people remaining in their areas of expertise

and of not speaking outside of the fields they have specialized in.

Can you imagine if lay people began to be the references for medicine?

So when we speak about the current affairs, when we speak

about geopolitical realities, when we speak about complex problems taking place in the world,

I am extremely cognizant of my own limitations. I have not trained in the science of geopolitics.

My area of expertise is the classical study of Islam.

And therefore, in this chutzpah, when I try to comment about these realities,

I will try my best to remain within my lane

and to speak about that which, inshallahua-ta-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-ha have some right to speak about,

which is the classical understanding

of Islam and its relevance in the modern world, because I am a firm believer that no matter

what happens to us in our daily lives, we can return to the Quran in sunnah, we can return
