Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are

highlighting some of their economic policy pitches.

We heard quite a bit from both candidates yesterday.

Let's start with Kamala Harris, who appeared in her first sit-down interview on

CNN, and she stuck to her broad economic message that she will focus on lowering

costs for the middle class

that includes helping first-time homebuyers and families with newborns both in the

form of tax credits no details about her promise to end taxes on tips which Donald Trump has claimed as originally his idea or on the promise that got her a lot of attention before the Democratic National Convention that she would crack down on price gouging at grocery stores.

And what are we hearing from Donald Trump in the last day?

Yeah, he's been making his own statements at a campaign event yesterday.

He said parents of newborn should be able to deduct

some of their related expenses without offering details. That sounds at least

like the child tax credit proposal Harris has made. Trump also said IVF treatment should be paid for by government or

health insurance. He did not elaborate. IVF has gotten tangled up in the

abortion debate. Trump has also been honing in on US energy production as a

major campaign issue and an

advisor to his campaign said that he would rescind many of the Biden
