A spate of high-profile burglaries in expensive neighborhoods, a mountain of stolen goods,

and hundreds of burglars all on holiday.

The police first became significantly concerned

when a crate of designer goods jewellery watches was seized at Heathrow Airport and it was

being shipped back to Chile.

Two years ago the Times Crime Correspondent John Simpson first broke the story of a new

phenomenon rocking law and order in Britain.

As he put it, we've become the victims of burglary tourism.

Some of them do obviously very well out of it.

One of the detectives said they're like rock stars.
