I'm your host, retired NYPD, Sergeant Bill Cannon, a 27-year veteran of the NYPD.

So things are going on in the investigation of the planned Halloween attack in Michigan

set for Halloween.

So far, I believe there has been eight arrests.

The investigation has led to at least eight arrests across three states,

and it's painted a picture of a scattered group of young people,

all apparently connected by extremist ideology.

In Michigan, the center of the alleged plot, federal charges were filed against three men from Dearborn, Mohamed Ali, Ayub Nassah, and Majid Mahmoud.

They're facing serious charges, including conspiracy,

to provide material support to ISIS

and firearms offenses related to planning a terror attack.

Two other juveniles were also taken into custody in Michigan, but their identities

are sealed because of their age. The story took a major turn when the investigation expanded.

In Montclair, New Jersey, 19-year-old Thomas Kien, excuse me, Tomas Khenz, Guzell, was arrested.

He was a freshman at Rowan University and was caught at Newark Liberty International Airport,

allegedly about to board a flight to Turkey.

The FBI says his final destination was Syria to join ISIS. Then another piece of the puzzle

surfaced nearly 2,500 miles away in Kent, Washington. There, the FBI arrested

night-year-old Saad Ali Mara. Prosecutors have called him the conspiracies finance guy, claiming he didn't just help fund the group's operations, but also had his own plans to join ISIS.

It turns out Mara wasn't a new name to the FBI. He'd be on their radar since 2023 for his involvement in extremist chat groups.
