Today I'm reporting on something I wasn't sure I'd ever actually say.

Hamilton County prosecutor Connie Pillage announced on Friday, December 12th that she's dismissing all charges

against Elwood Jones, and more than that, she believes he's innocent.

Let me say that again. The prosecutor's office is not just dropping charges because they can't

prove the case anymore. The prosecutor says that the evidence shows

Elwood Jones did not kill Rhoda Nathan.

This doesn't happen. Prosecutors don't often admit their office got it wrong, especially not in death penalty

cases. They don't stand up and say, we nearly executed an innocent man. But that's exactly what happened

more than three decades after Roda Nathan was killed at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Bluish, Ohio.

Just moments ago, I dismissed the case against Elwood Jones.

This is the result of a month's long

intensive review of trial paperwork, of court filings, of evidence. I came to the conclusion that

there is a lack of evidence, both physical and forensic, tying Mr. Jones to the murder. Trying this case,

anew, would be pewdle. We just don't have evidence to prove Mr. Jones was the killer.
