I can't sight media.

I've always been struck by how much about the American criminal justice system,

who gets charged, who gets acquitted, who doesn't, comes down to memory.

I look at the man in my direction,

and he kind of stops, packs up.

He raised up out the passenger window, and he heard good shots.

They went off, consecutively like firecrackers.

In 1998, when a young man named Casey Shane was shot in downtown Indianapolis,

the police built a case against his alleged killer almost entirely on the basis of memory.

The recollections of the eyewitnesses who saw the murder happen.

I have to say that was one time that face literally jumped off that paper at me.

I mean, it was basically went right back to that night.

But what if those seemingly solid recollections were anything but?

What if they got entangled up, twisted?

It'll become sort of solidified in my brain.

So, later on, what I believe that person looked like may be nothing at all,

like what he actually looks like, but I'll believe it.

And what if a man was arrested, tried, and sentenced to 60 years,

entirely on the basis of those mistakes?

And they asked me about a murder, it was a joke.

I'm like, oh yeah, y'all want to give me for selling dope, a murder stop it.
