As soon as we turned on the long portion of the P-shaped loop, my fiancé

asked if I smelled the smell she'd caught whiff of. I did not at first. Then the smell of what I thought was a hog hit me.

I'm an avid outdoorsman, so I know a hog smell, but this smelled a bit more pungent and strong.

I just assumed someone may have illegally dumped a hog carcass off the side of the road.

I would not have seen it

due to the very thick pines central Louisiana is known for. I continue through the P-shaped loop

and make a lot of noise with my truck, gunning it through mud and whatnot, and then make my way

back out the long section of the loop. As I come within 200 feet of the

intersection at the long section of the loop, I noticed the smell again, so I turned all of my lights on.

I then noticed two beady red glows in the pines. I just assumed a small critter on a tree

until it moved into the road in front of me.

My fiancé dove to the floorboard asking if it was a joke.

He, and trust me, I could tell, was standing on the left-hand edge of the road,
