An adaptation of the 2012 novel of the same name by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, the source material and film has a dedicated following who have connected with the story, its characters, and themes centering around LGBTQ+, race, ethnicity, and friendship. Director/Writer Aitch Alberto was kind enough to spend some time speaking with us, developing the film, working with actors Max Pelayo, Reese Gonzales, and more!
