Summary

There's a movement afoot--and its coming from the ground up. All around the internet and the real world, there's a spirit moving people to reconsider the nature and purpose of consciousness in creation. Drew Weatherhead is one of those people--a writer and pocaster red-pilled by COVID and moved to explore some of the themes that have also been of urgent importance to Young Heretics. We discuss his journey and the central role of humanity in the creation of the world.

0:21.5

Virtues the Cardinal Virt virtues actually just finished our series on the

0:25.4

cardinal virtues if you listen to the episode what justice ain't you'll hear the

0:29.0

concluding reflection that I give on justice which is the last of the four that we tackled and what I love

0:35.1

about talking through that kind of stuff about focusing on virtue as a concept

0:55.9

this is bad this is bad to do of course thinking ethically thinking about virtue

1:00.0

does end you up saying well certain things are wrong but ultimately what I've been

1:04.5

arguing throughout this whole series is that virtue is fundamentally has the

1:08.9

character of love it's about aiming at some good.

1:12.6

And I think this is so urgent when everything is falling apart as it seems to be

1:18.0

and when you log on and you see like example after example of people behaving badly

1:24.2

stuff that you know is destructive and wrong

1:26.9

ways that you don't want to be and we have these algorithms designed

1:31.1

to serve that up to us because people know that it gets us riled up

1:35.4

but what it does is it creates this negative ethic this ethic that we have where

1:40.1

we know exactly what we hate what we don't't want, what we want to move away from.

1:44.4

And all that time, Satan is rubbing his hands and laughing because the diabolical scheme

1:50.7

at work here is to keep you from thinking about what's good.

1:54.6

Thinking about what's evil and wrong is one way for you to never turn your attention to what
