or news that made it into the national news cycle, but was overshadowed.

Then we'll go over some questions from y'all.

On this date, August 9th in 1945, the U.S. dropped an atomic weapon on Nagasaki.

The 80th anniversary of the event is leading to a renewed push to rain and nuclear threats.

Today is National Book Lovers Day.

Okay, and on to the news.

Alabama was directed by a federal court to use an election map that created a second

majority black district. The state is expected to appeal. In Arizona, the city of

Tucson defeated a planned AI data center over water usage concerns.

In California, Governor Newsom is reportedly readying a redistricting effort to be triggered by Texas redistricting.

In Georgia, former Georgia GOP Lieutenant Governor Jeff Duncan has done the unthinkable. He left the Republican Party to officially become a Democrat.

In Indiana, Republicans are fighting over whether or not to redistrict their state to help Trump.

In other news from the state, Armadillos have apparently extended their range and are calling

Indiana home now. Just so y'all know, they can jump like five feet in the air. In Illinois,

Democratic lawmakers from Texas had to evacuate the hotel they were in after threats. In Kentucky, multiple distilleries are filing for bankruptcy. Some are pointing

directly at Trump's tariffs, which certainly didn't help, but another factor is that Gen Z is drinking less.

Louisiana is number one.
