So today, we're going to talk about you, economic preparedness, and the future.

In a recent video, I said continue to make economic preparations for a downturn.

I got a flood of questions asking exactly how somebody could prepare. That's a hard

question to answer, not because it's complicated, but because it varies widely based on your starting

point. The person with 500 grand and a 401k has different needs than a person who can't afford a $500 emergency, which is like half the

country. It's not just your financial starting point, but your living situation. Your living

situation makes a huge impact on whether or not internet clichés make any sense. Stop eating fast food so much.

For a single person, the time it takes to prepare and clean up may not be worth the $5

saved. If you have five kids plus two adults, saving five bucks per person means it's totally worth that hour.

What's something that applies to everybody?

Building up savings.

Just take $1,000 per month and put it in savings.

Yeah, me too.

What about 500?

250, 100, $50 $50.50. 10. Whatever the highest number was that didn't make you

laugh at the absurdity. Try to save that per month. If you can do 50 bucks per month, in less than a year,

you no longer belong to the part of the country that can't afford that $500- per month. In less than a year, you no longer belong to the part of the country

that can't afford that $500 emergency. You build the arc before it rains. Once you have that $500,

don't stop saving. Financial planners will tell you that you need three to six months of your

expenses and savings.
