news cycle but was overshadowed. Then we go over some questions from y'all. On this date, July 26 and 1948, Truman signed Executive Order 9981. It says in relevant part,

quote, it is hereby declared to be the policy of the president that there shall be a quality of

treatment and opportunity for all persons in the armed services without regard to race, color, religion, or national origin.

Today is National Disability Independence Day. It happens today because the ADA was signed on this date.

Okay, and on to the news. In Alabama,

a three-year-old boy was in the care of a Department of Human Resources worker and was allegedly left in a hot car in Birmingham. The heat index hit triple digits. The child did not survive. The employee has reportedly

been terminated and an investigation is underway. Please take the heat seriously. Alaska has filed an

appeal with the U.S. Department of Education over the loss of $80 million in school funding

after the feds said they failed a test measuring funding differences between school districts.

A California law requiring background checks for ammo purchases has been blocked by an appeals court. Kentucky is

experiencing a Gerardia outbreak. In Illinois, some homeowners will see their

insurance rates spike by 27 percent, especially pay attention if you have state farm.
