Welcome to this Bletchley Park Intelligence Insight.

In this episode, we return again to the Bill Tut symposium that was held at Bletchley Park in 2017

on what would have been the centenary of his birth.

As a member of the Bill Tuck Memorial Fund, Claire Butterfield had, by 2017,

spent four years campaigning for more recognition for the little-known mathematical genius.

Claire's talk was the first of the day, and in it she explored Bill's entire life and work,

and for the first time we're

bringing new it in its entirety. But before that Catherine Lynch caught up with Claire for a

couple of minutes before she gave her talk.

Claire Butterfield, welcome back to Bletchley Park. This is a pretty special day, isn't it,

considering the amount of work you've done campaigning to get more attention for built-up.

Yeah, it certainly is. I mean, we started planning the whole centenary two years ago now, so it's finally here. And it feels like it's taken a while to get here and

but at the same time it's gone quite quickly as well what bribed your interest about built up to

make sort of such heavy weather of making sure he was celebrated my first got involved with the

memorial fund back in 2013 when I'd heard about it and it was still very much in its infancy then

and I felt it should be promoted more so I got involved doing all the social media because I knew

about Bill Tapp I didn't feel that the rest of the world knew about Bill Tutt and considering

what he had achieved during the Second World I really felt they should know what he'd done what achievements were and that's not even considering what he had achieved during the Second World War, I really felt they should know what he'd done, what his achievements were.
